Philippines’ first Filipino Animation Film --- Blended with Live Action
Movie: Ibong Adarna
The first Filipino full-length animation movie, based on the story of the Adarna bird. Gerry Garcia wrote the story and directed Adarna under FLT Productions and Guiding Light Productions. Adarna received recognition from the Metro Manila Film Festival on December 27, 1997 as the first animated movie in Philippine cinema. In 1988, it was also included in the Asian Collection of Japan’s 7th Hiroshima Animation Festival.
The first ever animation film blended with live action is Star Cinema’s “Ibong Adarna.”
Ibong Adarna” is the first Filipino film to use animation blended but it is a little similar to the 1988 film “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”.
